Your favourite sweet recipes for 2019

favourite sweet recipes

You may remember last month I asked you to tell me your favourite sweet recipes from my cookbooks. And the results are in…

My first ever favourite Symply Too Good To Be True sweet recipe call out was hotly contested! And it was a very close battle for first place – but in the end a clear winner emerged and to be honest, it was no surprise.

So without further ado… Drumroll please…

Your favourite sweet recipe from my 8 cookbooks is my Wicked Chocolate Cake from Book 2.

It’s not the first time the Wicked Chocolate Cake has taken out a prize – an 8 year old girl won first prize with this recipe in the children’s section at the Royal Easter Show. The judges had no idea it was a low fat cake and she was very proud of her win (see the photo of her wearing her winning sash in Book 3).

Now let’s take a look at your Top 10 favourite sweet recipes from my cookbooks.

  1. Wicked Chocolate Cake – Book 2
  2. Apple Crumble – Book 3 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people
  3. Apple Pie – Book 2 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people
  4. Bread and Butter Pudding – Book 2 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people
  5. Lemon Meringue Pie – Book 2
  6. Cherry Heaven – Book 2
  7. Caramel Banana Self-Saucing Pudding – Book 4
  8. Wine Trifle – Book 1 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people
  9. Raspberry Cheesecake – Book 3 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people
  10. Apricot Rice Baked Custard – Book 5

Some interesting observations

I find it interesting that 9 out of 10 recipes are desserts, but the coveted top position was taken out by a baking recipe. Then there was the surprise entry that made it to the Top 10 – Apricot Rice Baked Custard. Have you tried this recipe? It’s yum!

I’d also like to make honorable mention to my Stuffed Baked Apples (Book 5 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people ), Rich Chocolate Squares ( Book 4 & Cooking for 1 or 2 people ) and Berry Delicious Pie (Book 6), that also rated high on your list of favourites.

And just as a matter of interest and to show how close the voting was – Apple Pie, Bread and Butter Pudding and Lemon Meringue Pie tied for third place.

Oh, and in case you didn’t realise – if you have a sweet tooth and don’t own Book 2, you’re definitely missing out!

If you haven’t delved into my sweet recipes perhaps it’s time to give it a try.

Did your favourite make it to the list? Isn’t it wonderful that you never have to miss out on the food you love when you have my cookbooks 🙂

And finally, thanks so much to all of the wonderful people who took the time to send in their family favourite sweet recipes – I loved reading all of your stories.
