Set yourself up for success

3 things you can do to help you succeed

One of the most effective ways to set yourself up for success is to know exactly what you want to achieve and have a plan to determine how you will get there.

This month I was inspired by yet another fabulous email. Trish is a member of my 12 Week Mentoring program and when I asked if I could share her story and photo she was delighted saying she hoped it would inspire other ‘60 something’ grandmothers to get out walking and enjoy life.

Here’s what Trish had to say:

“Good morning Annette, I would like to share with you a photo of me taken on the weekend at the Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run.  I didn’t run, I walked at the back of the slow walkers. This was the first time in my whole life I have ever participated in such an event. Since the 1st of April I have lost 9 kg. My weight loss is slowing down as I get closer to my goal weight, but that’s okay. I am happy with any loss at all. Thank you for your weekly encouragement. Best wishes, Trish”

Here are three things you can do to set yourself up for success:

  1. Plan ahead – Taking the time to plan your meals each week will make it easier to stay on track.
  2. Be realistic – By making small changes rather than trying to make drastic changes you will be more likely to maintain your new healthy lifestyle long-term.
  3. Learn to read food labels – Healthy bodies start in the supermarket and ignorance is not bliss. Learning to read labels will mean you can cut through all the hype in the supermarket and confidently make healthy choices.

This is not a ‘diet’ it’s a healthy lifestyle suitable for all members of the family. So get them on board too; having a healthier lifestyle will also benefit them.
