30g 97% fat-free ham diced
½ cup (50g) 30% reduced fat tasty cheese freshly grated
⅓ cup capsicum diced
¼ cup fresh tomatoes diced
½ cup mushrooms sliced
¼ cup onion finely diced
¼ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon crushed garlic (in jar)
2 teaspoons no-added-salt tomato paste
4 slices 9 grain bread or white low GI bread
cooking spray

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients except tomato paste and bread in a medium size mixing bowl.
  2. Spread tomato paste over 2 slices of bread then top with pizza filling. Place remaining slices of bread on top.
  3. Cook in a sandwich or jaffle maker that has been coated with cooking spray until browned to your liking.

Not suitable to be frozen.

Dietitian's tip

Annette has provided us with another low fat traditional food alternative. This time a fat reduced pizza that is also moderate in sodium (salt). I look forward to serving this for a lunch with my health conscious dietitian friends.
