2 large whole eggs
3 large egg whites
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2¾ cups trim milk
2 tablespoons orange rind finely grated
3 tablespoons sultanas
2 tablespoons Nutella® spread
2 slices 9 grain bread

Method

Preheat oven 180ºC fan forced.

  1. Beat eggs and egg whites in a large mixing bowl together then add sugar and vanilla essence and beat well.
  2. Add milk and mix for 1 minute until well combined.
  3. Add finely grated orange rind and beat mixture for 15 seconds.
  4. Pour mix into a medium size casserole or small lasagne dish and sprinkle sultanas evenly over top.
  5. Spread 1 tablespoon of Nutella over each slice of bread then cut each slice into 4 triangles (leave crust on). Dip bread into egg mix then place on top.
  6. Place dish in a large baking tray that has been half-filled with water.
  7. Carefully place in oven and bake for 1 hour or until firm to touch in centre. Remove from water and rest for 5 minutes. Best served warm.

Suitable to be frozen.
