12 tips to a harmonious and balanced life

a harmonious and balanced life keeps you feeling focused and less likely to succumb to old bad habits.

If there’s one thing we all crave in life it’s harmony and balance

Having a harmonious and balanced life means you’ll be less likely to succumb to old bad habits and more likely to stick to a healthy lifestyle. But with the current pressures of life that can be much easier said than done.

Take a few moments to consider the points below and see where you can make some subtle or not-so-subtle changes to bring a bit more calm to your life.

12 tips to a harmonious and balanced life:

  1. Know Your Strengths. Focus less on your weaknesses and spend more time focused on strengths to improve your mindset. Make a list of your strengths, let me assure you, you have so many – revisit the list often!
  2. Stop Over-Thinking. You don’t need to have all the answers to life, allow life to unfold in the perfect time and the perfect way. When you are over thinking you get into fear and fear is sure to drag you down. Focus less on what could go wrong and more on everything that’s right in your life.
  3. Spend less Time on Social Media. Sure it’s great when it’s social and fun… and if you have an online business, it’s priceless. But checking in to Facebook constantly is a real time waster and for some can cause negative emotions to rise. Spend less time on social media and more time actually ‘with’ the people you love, you’ll find this so much more rewarding.
  4. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others. We all have something unique and special to offer to the world. Stop comparing yourself to others and focus on what makes you the amazing awesome woman that you are. You are enough just as you are.
  5. Stay Away from Negative People. What more needs to be said, people can be mean and nasty, don’t hang out with those people if you have the choice. And if it’s someone close to you, learn to set firm boundaries around the types of conversations and interactions you’re willing to have with them.
  6. Don’t Be the Negative Person. The mind has a natural tendency to focus on the things that aren’t going well in our life – it’s called the negativity bias. Instead, choose to look for the good in every situation.  Focus on what you want in life – not what you fear!
  7. Find Ways to Have Fun Each Day. Don’t get caught up doing everything for everyone else – make yourself a priority. Write down some things you’d love to do, some big bucket list items and other small things you never seem to get around to, and start ticking them off the list. Life is too short to wait, do something fun every day.
  8. Eat a Healthy Diet That Energises You. If you eat a lot of high fat heavy food it can make you feel tired and sluggish so eat light and your body will thank you for it. Be responsible with your food and drink choices and be a healthy person. Your body and your mindset will be the winners.
  9. Get Outside and Get Some Fresh Air. A small amount of regular exercise will transform your life. Exercise releases endorphins, which makes you feel better about yourself and also gives you more energy to do the things you want to do.
  10. Forgive Others. Forgive Yourself. Forgiveness is one of our most powerful ways to happiness. Forgive those who have harmed you, it doesn’t make what they have done okay but it will liberate you from the pain, anger, resentment and negativity caused. Forgive yourself for your own mistakes, remember no one is perfect.
  11. Spend Most of Your Time with People you Like. They say we’re the sum of the 5 people we spend the most time with. In other words, spending time with people who are caring, nice, and loving will help you be the same. So, surround yourself with like-minded people who make you want to stretch yourself and encourage you to believe in yourself.
  12. Practise gratitude. Practicing gratitude encourages positivity, enhances mental well-being, strengthens relationships, cultivates resilience, boosts self-esteem, and promotes a mindful and appreciative outlook on life. Each morning as you start the day think of 3 things you’re grateful for. This daily practise was a game-changer for me.

Having a harmonious and balanced life reduces the likelihood of falling back into old negative patterns and increases the chances of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So why not pick one thing to work on this week to improve your life.

I’ll leave you with these beautiful words from the late, great Louise Hay from her book You Can Heal Your Life – “In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. I no longer choose to believe in old limitations and lack, I now choose to begin to see myself as the Universe sees me – perfect, whole, and complete.
