Diabetes

If you have or are concerned you may have type 2 diabetes then the good news is you there is a good chance that you can still have an excellent quality of life. The first step is getting diagnosed and then following the healthy guidelines that Diabetes Australia and your dietitian recommend you do. If you take advantage of all that is available to support you then you will find it much easier to manage. A study done in the United Kingdom showed that if blood glucose, blood pressure and blood fats are controlled and kept close to the non-diabetic range, diabetic complications are reduced and length of life is increased. Visit your doctor and ask for a simple test, it is better to know than not too.

Signs and symptoms of diabetes may include some or all of the following:
  • Persistent thirst
  • Excessive passing of urine
  • Persistent, extreme tiredness
  • Weight gain, or weight loss
  • Changes in appetite
  • Blurred vision
  • Itchiness
  • Thrush
  • Impotence
